First off, let me be frank about this movie. It's brutal, but it's realistic. After watching it, I watched the special features, and I was very impressed by the bluntness of the actors and how they felt about the subject matter, and how they handled it. I was more impressed by the fact that there was a "safety word", in the event the acting became too difficult to accept.
This is not a remake, per se, of the original movie. The plot is similar, yes, but the ways the woman gets her revenge are fresh and extremely horrific. This movie will make you squirm, as well as cheer.
Synopsis: A woman rents a cabin in the backwoods in order to do some writing (she's an author.) A group of men who run the only gas station for miles around end up challenging each other, declaring the woman to be a city whore who deserves everything they'll dish out to her (although the woman has not absolutely nothing to rate this.)
They end up raping her repeatedly, until she escapes and tries to drown herself in a nearby river. What follows is her revenge on these men, with each of them getting their individual punishments that fit their own particular crime.
A very thought-provoking film, I highly highly recommend that you:
