Monday Movie Review - FANGORIA BLOOD DRIVE II
This is a collection 8 short films, most of them around 15-17 min. long. And although I know these are all amateur pieces, some of the video quality and blood gags are almost professional.Overall , you have to give kudos to everyone for their efforts. The stories are very unique, but most of them suffer at the end. Just as the story gets interesting, it's over, and the endings are either incongruous, or downright puzzling.
Of the eight, "Means to an End" and "Working Stiff" are black comedies. (The cheese grater got to me, ugh!) "Disposer" gives phone sex a bloody new meaning. And "Sawbones" is the only historical, taking you back to the open field hospitals of the Civil War. But in my opinion, these 4 aren't enough to justify the rental. Worse, each short is introduced by Mistress Juliya, and I nearly stopped the DVD after her first appearance.
Therefore, I'll make my recommendation as brief as possible:

Monday Movie Review - SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD
Romero's zombie movie seesaw back and forth between being flat-out horror and black comedy. To me, I like both, especially the films that have a bit of tongue-in-cheek (both literally and figuratively). Survival of the Dead is the latter, with lots of little short escapades that pit the living against the "dumbass dead".
You also have to give the King of the Zombies credit for giving us something different in each of his movies. In this film, the story takes place on an island where two families have been feuding for years. And now that a zombie plague has taken over, they're split into two camps - one side wants to kill everyone infected, but the other believes that zombies can be taught to eat other creatures besides humans, and thus they don't need to be eradicated.
Enter a small group of well-armed and trained military survivalists. They're made to pick sides, and it's definitely a no-win situation. The gore is profuse, and I liked the never-before-done zombie attack on an animal (I will leave the rest to your imagination.)
If you're a zombie fan, especially if you're a Romero-an, this movie will click for you. Yes, it has some stumbles, but overall it's just plain fun.
My whole-hearted recommendation is that you:

Quizzes, Widgets, Gadgets
...and other impossibly cool things to stick on your blog.
Don't let the dating service "one + you" sidetrack you. Go immediately to the quizzes and widgets, some of which I've stuck below.
My faves so far,
How long could you survive in the vacuum of space?
How many cannibals could your body feed?
How long could you survive trapped in your own home?
Would you make a good human shield?
Would you eat your buddies in a blizzard?
How much is your dead body worth?
What are your chances of surviving a zombie apocalypse?
