The Perfect Gift!

Next time you get that bridal or wedding shower invitation, or even a birthday invite, consider this!  Not only is it nifty, it's also a great conversation starter.

(Is it just me, or does anyone else think about the movie ALIENS and the dinner scene on the spaceship between the marine private and Lance Henricksen?)

Abandoned and Spooky

Abandoned city?  Not quite. This is Six Flags over New Orleans, or what's left of it after Hurricane Katrina.  Sadly, Six Flags decided it was too expensive to rebuild, and too expensive to demolish, so it's been left to decay and collapse on its own through time.

Not Only Were They Once Alive, They Now Glow!

Personally, I don't want one of these next to my computer.  I'd probably have nightmares about them coming to life and escaping to run all over my keyboard.  But teenagers would probably have a blast with a mouse like this.

Found all over the internet.  Just google "computer mouse bugs".

New! THE TUB, an Erotic Tale of Paranormal Horror

New!

THE TUB
An erotic tale of paranormal horror
by Gail Smith
(Linda Mooney w/a)
from Whiskey Creek Press Torrid

This is a first for both myself and WCPT - an erotic horror story!

Amanda Storey was sent by her company to a tiny rural town to convince the community that having a chain mega-supermarket built there would be a boon to their economy and job market.

She never showed up for the town hall meeting, even though the company insists she was scheduled to be there. The motor inn where she had reservations claimed she never checked in, and police have not found any trace of her body or her car.

This is what really happened.

It's Both Comfortable and Creepy

I know I have to get me one of these Bloody Spill Pillows. It resembles a very realistic-looking blood stain. Imagine taking a nap, and someone walks in on you looking like this!

Monday Movie Review - HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN

Like the movie "Machete", HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN started out as a faux trailer for the Grindhouse double feature "Death Proof" and "Planet Terror".  But with enough people calling for the real movie to be made, plus financial backing, it has seen the light of day with no less than the phenomenal Rutger Hauer in the lead.

In short, a hobo enters a town, looking for a way to make some money (by mowing lawns).  He finds the town is so wholly corrupt, a fake preacher and his two grown sons are literally murdering people on the air and in broad daylight without fear of retribution.  Before too long, the hobo finds himself smack in the middle of one of these escapades, and that's when he snaps, going on a rampage of revenge that convinces the public to join him in stamping out the men and woman responsible for these atrocities.

Unlike "Machete", this movie actually feels like a grindhouse movie.  The colors are over saturated, and sometimes the acting is over the top, but for the gorehound there's plenty to rejoice over.  Sometimes certain scenes appear to be too absurd, but the whole focus of this movie is pure bloody fun.

Which is why my wholehearted recommendation is that you:

More Frightening Than a Movie

This just arrived in the mail.  It's the May16, 2011 cover of the ESPN Insider, also called "The Danger Issue".

Yes, the photo is real.  It was take in Madrid, Spain, on May 21, 2010.  The bullfighter walked away, underwent a tracheotomy, and returned to the ring a few weeks later.

Monday Movie Review - BLACK SWAN

I've read and been told repeatedly that this movie is a horror movie.  I can see why some reviewers would say so.  But to me the horror was so subtle, I dismissed it.  If anything, this movie is a psychological thriller.

Nina has given her life to dance the role of the Swan Queen in the ballet Swan Lake.  But  while her temperment fits the White Swan part, she's repeatedly told she doesn't have enough "nastiness" in her to make the Black Swan part credible.

Her director brings in Lily, who happens to be the complete opposite of Nina, and it looks as though Lily will take the part of the Black Swan, if not the entire role.  This threat is enough to force Nina to reach inside herself and pull out a performance that surprises everyone.  However, the consequence of her action is both shocking and surprising.

This role won Portman an Oscar (among many other kudos) for her portrayal of Nina.  But I had a difficult time following the story line.  There are many times when you wonder whether or not Nina is going mad.  How much of what she sees is real, and how much is her imagination?

All in all, this movie is not one I would watch again.  I viewed it the first time to see what horror elements it contained, but for the most part I was disappointed.  Which is why my recommendation is that you
